From Extraction to Regeneration introduces a new food system model rooted in territories rather than
markets. The talk presents the “Cilento möter Sörmland” project as a concrete and living example,
connecting Southern and Northern Europe through two pioneering Organic Districts: the Bio-Distretto
del Cilento in Italy and the award-winning region of Sörmland in Sweden.
Promoted by RADICI, the project operates as a transnational platform where farmers, institutions, and
local communities co-design regenerative organic practices and solidarity-based trade models. By
placing soil health, biodiversity, and social resilience at the core of food production and
distribution, the Organic District emerges not as a label, but as a systemic alternative—capable of
transforming food into a regenerative infrastructure for territories and future generations.
